Mariachi Juvenil De Riverside

Mariachi Juvenil de Riverside (MJR) is RAA’s flagship Mariachi ensemble, comprised of some of the most accomplished young musicians in the Inland Empire.

Students perform a diverse range of repertoire in many public performances around our region.

AuDitionS

Auditions for MJR will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 between 8:45am and 3:00pm at the Cesar Chavez Community Center. After filling out the online sign-up form, you will receive instructions on how to reserve an audition time. If you are unable to make an in-person audition, please contact adam@riversideartsacademy.com for information on how to submit a recorded audition.

If you are not placed in MJR, you will be recommended for another RAA class!

Audition Materials:

• Please prepare a 2-3 minute solo piece that best highlights your technique and musicianship.

• Prepare two scales in as many octaves as you are comfortable

• You may be asked to sight-read at your audition

Schedule

MJR rehearses Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm-7:00pm AND Saturday mornings from 9:30am-12:00pm, during the school year.

Eligibility:

  • Successfully complete the MJR Application and Audition process

  • Be enrolled in 2nd-12th grade.

Costs:

  • FULL and partial scholarships are available! The vast majority of RAA students receive scholarships. Please see our financial aid page to verify your eligibility.

  • Cost without financial aid: $900/school year (payable in one sum or as $100/month over the school year)

Attendance Policy

  • Attendance to rehearsals is mandatory. Up to 2 rehearsals can be missed per semester, excluding dress rehearsals and concerts. Exceptions may be granted in extenuating circumstances.
