Honor Band

Enrollment is now OPEN through Wednesday 10/9

A new offering for the 2024-2025 academic year, RAA’s Honor Band is open to all winds, brass, and percussion players with 2-4 years of experience (4th-12th grade)

Students will perform a diverse range of repertoire, from the band canon to film and video game music.

AuDitionS

Auditions for Honor Band will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 between 8:45am and 3:00pm at the Cesar Chavez Community Center. After filling out the online sign-up form, you will receive instructions on how to reserve an audition time. If you are unable to make an in-person audition, please contact adam@riversideartsacademy.com for information on how to submit a recorded audition.

If you are not placed in Honor Band, you will be recommended for another RAA class!

Audition Materials:

• For flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone: click below to see your audition excerpt

• For oboe, bassoon, french horn, tuba, and percussion: Please prepare a 2-3 minute solo piece that best highlights your technique and musicianship.

• All instruments: Prepare two scales in as many octaves as you are comfortable

• You may be asked to sight-read at your audition

Schedule

Honor Band rehearses most Saturday mornings, 9am-12pm, during the school year.

Costs:

  • FULL and partial scholarships are available! The vast majority of RAA students receive scholarships. Please see our financial aid page to verify your eligibility.

  • Cost without financial aid: $900/school year (payable in one sum or as $100/month over the school year)

Attendance Policy

  • Attendance to rehearsals is mandatory. Up to 2 rehearsals can be missed per semester, excluding dress rehearsals and concerts. Exceptions may be granted in extenuating circumstances.
