Hello, Riverside Arts Academy!
Last week, our Board hired me as RAA’s new Artistic Director.
In this role, I will oversee all of our organization’s programming, artistic staff, and faculty. I will begin this position in a full-time capacity on July 3rd, and in the meantime will be performing transitional duties, planning our curriculum, and moving to Riverside!
Over the last few months, I have simply fallen in love with RAA and the city of
Riverside. Our organization has the capacity to bring together our community
and celebrate the incredible growth and artistry of our students. The passion of everyone at RAA fills our city with seemingly boundless creative energy.
I know that the last few months have been challenging for RAA — we’ve had
substantial changes in leadership, faculty, and staff across the organization. I therefore want to share with you my immediate goals.
Build stability and transparency into everything we do.
Implement a revitalized after-school program at 4 RUSD elementary schools.
Redesign our Saturday classes and curriculum for Fall 2023.
I am deeply humbled and honored to lead RAA into the future, and in doing so I hope to hear from all of our constituents—students, families, faculty, staff, board members, and concertgoers. Please contact me anytime at artisticdirector@riversideartsacademy.com
As we near the start of our next semester, I will be holding information sessions for all families about our curriculum redesign, in addition to providing written materials in English and Spanish for those who cannot attend.
Our redesign process will heavily involve our extraordinary faculty members, and RAA’s new curriculum specialist from RUSD, Krystin Cowan.
Although I will not be beginning my new role until after the start of our summer
programs, please stay tuned for an update from our staff this week regarding
program logistics.
I am just ecstatic to lead our organization, hear from all of you, and serve our
community in Riverside.
Sincerely yours,
Adam Karelin
