Dear Parents, Friends, and Community Supporters,
Happiness abounds at Riverside Arts Academy
Why?
Because we are together again. Nothing can take the place of human contact, that friendly smile, that pat on the back, the friend standing next to you. The human connection is so important, and who connects better than parents and loved ones?
This month we want to salute our moms, grandmothers, incredible Board Members, and nurturing mother figures. Why? Because it’s Mother’s Day! The support our mothers give to our organization and “our children” is incredible. Our parents help at snack time, take inventory of our supplies, shuttle their kids to music class, performances, and concerts, make sure the kids wear their RAA t-shirts to class, and encourage their children to practice (5 hours total a week- the magic number for brain development), and express their thanks to our wonderful teaching artists. The list could go on and on!
The most accurate predictor of academic achievement is not socioeconomic status or how prestigious the school is that a child attends. The best predictor of student success is the extent to which families encourage learning at home and involve themselves in their child’s education– that means music too!
So, all you wonderful moms, your engagement is more than a common courtesy to our organization. It’s one of the best ways to create a positive learning environment for our children. We strive to create a community built on family involvement and we strive to nurture it and support moms and families!

We are also pleased to share that our fabulous Riverside Arts Academy Board will be awarding the Riverside Arts Academy Outstanding Student Scholarship of $1,000 to a current or former RAA student who is a graduating senior this year. We continue to strive to serve our children and mentor them to become civic-minded future citizens. How can you help? As we plan our October 21 Gala, CITY OF LOVE, at the Fox Performing Arts Center, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT in many ways: sponsorship, auction items, sharing our messages on social media and in public, etc.
Remember, when the power of love is stronger than the love of power, there will be peace on earth!
In this month of May, may we find love and peace and cherish our mothers, grandmothers, and each other! We have much to be thankful for.
